Session Information
I am sure you can't believe your little one is about to turn 1 year old!
That first year passes so quickly and I am so excited to document such a momentous occasion.
Not only is it great fun but “Cake Smash” images are ideal to use for your little one’s Birthday party invitations.
What to expect?
We generally start with some portraits being taken of your child to give them a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera and familiar with myself (although I'd love to meet them at the initial consultation) and their surroundings before we bring the cake out.

A “Cake Smash” session generally lasts approximately 30 minutes to an hour and are held in my studio.
"Cake Smash" sessions can also be done in the comfort of your home or at an outdoor location of your choice. (weather permitting) with an additional $50 fee.
"Cake Smash" sessions are unpredictable but always a lot of fun, some little ones get right into it while others can be shy and need some assistance with the smashing. Either way, guranteed there will be cake and frosting everywhere by the end of the session.
What about the cake?
A vanilla frosted sponge-cake decorated with your colour choice of coloured cake bunting is supplied for the “Cake Smash”.

What is the dress code?
The dress code is totally up to yourself and can be as casual or dressy as you wish. Amazon, EBAY and ETSY have some great “Cake Smash Outfits” to choose from, feel free to discuss your colour theme or ideas with me to get the most out of your “Cake Smash” images.
What about the theme?
At our initial consultation we will sit down and discuss all of the lovely details.
I will ask you questions in order for me to come up with the perfect and unique set up for your child.
Many of my clients use the same theme they are using for their child's birthday party. This way the pictures can be used as invitations and/or to display them at the birthday party.

What should I bring?
Please bring a drink along for your child, it can be thirsty work smashing a cake and also their favorite snack or something that can possibly be hidden in the back of the cake such as blueberries or baby cereal to entice them to try and touch the cake.
It is also most important that you please bring a change of clothes for both your child and perhaps yourself as the frosting can quite literally get everywhere.
A few of your child’s favorite toys may also be a good idea too for comforting and distracting them at the beginning of the session.
